The Manchester VA medical center is looking to fill a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor position with the following tour of duty: Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 12:00am.
Duties
Duties may include, but not limited to:
Responsible for assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis
Reorganize work schedules efficiently to ensure work is accomplished in a timely manner
Responsible for the cleaning of all patient areas, corridor spaces throughout the Medical Center, Operating Rooms, and all other areas as assigned
Responsible for assuring the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments of subordinates within established policies and schedules set by higher levels of supervision
Plans daily and weekly assignments, scheduling periodic work for areas
Trains staff and ensure that they are using the patient centered care principles in terms of customer service to patients, patients' family members and personnel
Provides on-the job training for subordinates as individual needs dictate
Schedules regular meetings with staff to make them aware of new procedures or directives
Keeps subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures and uses of equipment and supplies; control the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit
May supervise the daily distribution of uniforms and textiles to the designated areas and persons and ensures record keeping is timely and accurate
Responsible for the coordination of activities with other services, including rearranging work schedules during remodeling, painting and relocation of offices, clinics or patient wards and other duties which help coordinate moves
Routinely inspects assigned areas to assure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments, sanitation levels are maintained, equipment properly cared for and that associated housekeeping objectives are accomplished in an expedient and timely manner

Interchange Agreements with Other Merit System: Employees who occupy medical or medical-related positions and were appointed under 38 U.S.C. 4701(1) or (3) [formerly 38 U.S.C. 4104 (1) and (3)] must be serving in a full-time position without time limit and have served continuously for at least one year in this other merit system to be eligible to convert to the Title 5 System. Some exceptions to this rule may apply if you have previously acquired tenure under a Title 5 appointment.
Current Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather. PPE may be required in some circumstance as exposure to possible contagious diseases, blood and bloody secretion are inherent to this position. Care is required to avoid serious injuries (i.e., broken bones) when working on ladders, or when using 30-100-pound power equipment or handling hazardous materials.
