About the Position: Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist responsible for planning, scheduling, estimating, expediting, and coordinating various projects accomplished by Depot Operations involving the shipping, receiving, inventory, functional testing, inspection, storage, renovation, demilitarization, care and preservation, and destructive operations of ammunition related commodities and the maintenance operations of missiles and rockets, as outlined in the scope of work.
Duties
Perform logistical management operations involving planning, coordinating, and evaluating specific actions required to support ammunition programs within Surveillance, Shipping and Receiving, Storage, Inventory, and Demilitarization.
Review and analyze logistics problems, identify projects involving mission changes, technological advances, etc. and recommend the addition, deletion, or modification of existing methods and procedures.
Review technical data and production planning and translates it into logistics support requirements including facilities, equipment, resources, material, parts, funding, labor, training, shipping, receiving, transportation, and storage.
Utilize knowledge of depot operations to include demilitarization, maintenance, supply, quality, logistics, and engineering.
Prepare correspondence to provide information on ammunition logistics systems and protocols.
Monitor progress and evaluate data/information relative to ammunition program plans and performance.
Develop plans of action and milestones to achieve complex long-range objectives.
Administer a cost-conscious business operation to identify and immediately resolve internal barriers to operational effectiveness.
Use the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) for planning, scheduling, reviewing, forecasting workload, and adjusting production programs.
Continuously monitor program/project status in order to ensure the availability of required materials and resources. Reviews data to ensure programs are accomplished within guidelines and metrics.
Review guidance for all budget phases, mid-year reviews, and pricing applications based on a thorough knowledge of required ammunition logistics support.
Lead the compiling of operation requirements and development of multi-million-dollar budgets in addition to all logistical support elements for the execution of operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience compiling data from automated logistics systems for analysis and planning purposes. Assisting in planning and estimating required manpower, skills, equipment and materials to perform ammunition production operations involving the renovation/demilitarization/care and preservation of ammunition and/or explosives. Experience recommending methods to make efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials in order to meet production schedules. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
