Duties

You will serve as a technical service representative to the Base Communications Officer (BCO). You will assist customers determine requirements, prepare technical specifications, obtain cost estimates, initiate internal Purchase Requests (IPRs) to procure telecommunications equipment and services, and track and verify work is complete. You will provide technical assistance in monitoring installations of equipment and facilities, coordinate with customers, the Financial Management Department and contractors. You will perform telephone circuit and equipment troubleshooting to determine nature of telecommunications problems. You will stay abreast of latest developments within the telecommunications field to evaluate communications equipment, circuits and system requirements to assist the senior Telecommunications Specialist in developing recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: *Experience applying telecommunications theories, policies and procedures for the acquisition of services and equipment. *Experience performing telephone circuit and equipment troubleshooting to determine telecommunications problems. *Experience making recommendations to senior leadership on improvements of communications equipment, circuits, and systems. *Experience using telecommunications switching systems to monitor switch alarms to ensure operational status of telephone equipment.
