This position serves as a District Manager (DM) within the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), Technical Operations Washington District. Functions as the principal advisor for respective District operations and reports to the respective Service Area Director of Technical Operations. Incumbent works independently and has broad discretion to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and policies.

Duties

Directs a highly technical and diverse workforce in ensuring the effective maintenance and repair of National Airspace System (NAS) equipment and facilities. Incumbent will have day-to-day direction over 3-5 subordinate managers as well as functionally integrated teams of operational and support personnel. Interfaces with management across multiple organizational units and integrates projects/programs across multiple service units. Provides coaching, mentoring, and development of staff and organizational capabilities and is responsible for team-building throughout the facilities in the District. Sets priorities, assigns tasks and responsibilities, and monitors and evaluates performance of organizational units within the District. Approves leave; and takes or approves corrective/ disciplinary actions as appropriate.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Some, all or none of the eligible and qualified applicants may be interviewed.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-K or FG/GS-15 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include but not limited to: Directing work of subordinate employees and/or managers for multiple organizational units/projects/programs and across multiple functions and disciplines; leading an effective workforce that achieves organizational-wide goals in concurrence with the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Individual and organizational performance is typically reviewed through organizational performance measures to determine success in achieving planned results. Work impacts directly on goals and objectives of Technical Operations and other FAA organizations.


Works collaboratively with the work force, labor unions, and other stakeholder organizations to identify needs and implement solutions to create a workplace of choice.


Works collaboratively with peers and others, within and, when possible, across Service Area(s) to ensure consistent, corporate approach towards resolution of labor relations issues.
