Duties
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
The National Park Service retains the right to extend the duration of this appointment after selection and/or appointment, based on changes to the regulation governing the number of years term appointments may last. This change, which may be made at the agency's sole discretion and without further competition, shall not be construed or interpreted as the granting of a right to a selectee or employee to such an extension. No extension to a term appointment shall be granted to a selectee/employee to an amount of time that exceeds the maximum number of years authorized under any present or current regulation, unless such regulation expressly allows such action.

Keweenaw National Historic Park (KEWE)-Calumet, MI-TERM NTE:13 months. Salary Range - $57,118 - $74,250 per year.
Isle Royale National Park (ISRO)-Houghton, MI-TERM NTE: 13 months with possible extend up to 3 years. Salary Range - $57,118 - $74,250 per year.

Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail (LECL)-Omaha, NE-TERM-NTE: 4 years. Salary Range - $57,618 - $74,900 per year.
Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SAMO)-Thousand Oaks, CA-TERM-NTE: 4 years. Salary Range - $66,134 - $85,971 per year. This position is a shared network position between SAMO, CHIS, MANZ and CABR. Duty Station is SAMO and you will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.

Major Duties:
Create content for social media, publications and park websites related to the historical events that took places at the parks and convey how these events played a major role in the development of our nation.
Write and edit interpretive media products, including email and print newsletters, webpages, social media sites, and other print and digital media products in order to connect messaging with intended audience.
Work with NPS staff and partners to create interactive presentations on the micro and macro effects of our site story.
Develop and edit multimedia content including video, motion graphics, images, text, and audio to create products to support the park's public engagement, safety goals, and staff development goals.
Use emerging technology to communicate with the public, using products such as, virtual web-based activities, podcasts, video production and apps to meet an agency's mission.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/06/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to the following: Providing visual and audio production services using nationally established guidelines and/or industry standards; Planning the preparation and use of visual aspects of printed materials such as books, handouts, bulletins, etc. for use in communicating information through visual means; Producing Web pages and other visual materials using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere); And Planning, coordinating, publicizing, and managing special events including distributing information related to such events. You must include hours worked per week in your resume.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively high-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: You must include a copy of your academic transcripts with your application.

Successful completion of a combination of specialized experience as described above and education as described above. When combined equals 100% of the total requirement. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
