About the Position: This position is for the Patient Administration, Uniform Business Office, located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Verify revenue codes, compliance codes, modifiers, and duplicate codes when indicated, to facilitate efficient and expeditious billing. Determine what medical information is required and obtain claims processed to initiate billing activities. Utilize the Medical Health System Genesis (MS) and the Armed Forces Billing and Collection Utilization Solution (ABACUS). Be familiar with International Classification of Diseases, Current Edition, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), CPT/HPCS for Technical components, and other codes to ensure maximum reimbursement from pay to make sure correct codes are used for billing purposes.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Maintaining or reviewing medical codes or records or billing and utilizing a medical software system to input or retrieve data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
