Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: Applicants must meet A, B, or C below to satisfy the basic requirement for Social Scientist, all grade levels. A: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. B: Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. C: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. FOR GS-14: In addition to the basic education requirements as stated above, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equal to the next lower grade level. Examples of this experience may include, but are not limited to: Examples of GS-13 level work may include: experience in conducting qualitative data collection and analysis related to the development of hazard preparedness products and tools. Develop materials and trainings to enable scientific information and expertise to be accessible, useable, and understandable for a variety of stakeholders. Assist with the development of training, education, and exercise activities pertinent to the mission area. Provides guidance and training to scientists and managers for engagement with emergency managers during disaster events with a hazards mission nexus.
