About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Administration in at Naval Health Clinic (Pearl Harbor), which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii

Duties

Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls from higher organizational levels, other agencies, or important public or private sector entities. Maintains the Director's daily calendar, establishes priorities, schedules meetings and appointments, accepts or declines invitations, and arranges for substitute representation. Composes non-technical correspondence on a variety of topics such as, office procedures, requests for information, and the handling of congressional or other sensitive matters. Assembles and summarizes information from files and documents in the office or other available sources for use by leadership. Utilizes word processor, microcomputer and/or computer terminal and other office automation systems to produce work accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Must be a qualified typist. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Utilizing computer systems to support administrative functions; 2) Directing phone calls or visitors to specific personnel; 3) Reviewing correspondence for conformance with regulations, format, proper use of grammar, spelling and punctuation; AND 4) Coordinating appointments and/or meetings for the supervisor. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as business administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
