THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WORKER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1143000 and is part of the NC ASO, National Guard (ASO-AASF #1/ Manning Document 4141-225).
Duties
As a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WORKER, WG-5413-8, you will receive, store, and issue aviation gasoline and jet fuel for the facility; order fuel under a pre-negotiated government contract with a commercial vendor who provides delivery to the site; receive fuel and assist in off-loading into underground storage facilities; handle all necessary grounding lines and hoses, monitor gauges, and ensure that proper procedures and safety practices are strictly observed; ensure proper quantities are received and signs for deliveries; monitor storage facilities , and ensure they are kept clean and free from conditions which could result in fire or explosion; ensure that safety regulations are observed by all personnel in the area; transfer fuel from storage areas to tanker trucks with a fuel capacity of 2500 to 5000 gallons which are utilized to refuel aircraft; operate necessary transfer and pumping equipment including valves, punts, safety lines and hoses; monitor gauges and ensure that safety practices and regulations are strictly observed and enforced; stand ready to implement emergency procedures if an unsafe condition should arise; perform operator maintenance on storage facilities as required and perform all required fuel testing procedures; determine existence of water in storage tanks and drain it; conduct aqua-g10 and milipor tests at required intervals to determine existence of water and sediment in the fuel; draw required fuel samples from storage and dispensing units and prepare them for shipment to testing laboratories; refuel and defuel assigned and transient aircraft, both rotary and fixed wing; operate tactical and/or commercial type fuel trucks on the aircraft ramp parking area; . perform operator maintenance on the refueling truck and associated equipment; ensure that all aircraft fuel tanks are full to prevent accumulation of explosive vapors; connect grounding cables, operate the pump unit, and handle hoses; dispense fuel and enter fuel amount in fuel records and log banks as required; assist authorized firefighters in the performance of fire and crash/reserve duties; assist Aircraft Mechanics by performing Aircraft Mechanic Helper duties; perform other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Qualifications
Military Grades: Enlisted (E6 and below)
Minimum Requirements: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and to safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (must have 12 months) Experience or training working in activities such as large fuel depots or fuel farms with complex, interconnecting line and pipe arrangements, and frequent requirements for large scale movement and transfer of a variety of liquid fuels.
