About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Reserve Command, Support Group, G1, Support and Services Division, Program Branch, Northwest Region SHARP Office with duty at Elkhorn, Nebraska.

Duties

Serve as a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) for the U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC). Conduct training on sexual harassment and sexual assault. Conduct response duties in the event of a sexual harassment complaint or sexual assault. Teach/Coach/Mentor victim advocates assigned to unit. Input sexual assault and sexual harassment data into appropriate system of record to coordinate care. Emphasize the commitment to maintain a workplace environment that rejects sexual harassment and sexual assault and attitudes that promote such behaviors. Coordinate care for complainants and sexual assault victims to ensure they receive the appropriate and responsive care. Maintain working relationships with outside offices to facilitate immediate response and accurate reporting of sexual assault incidents. Track services provided to victims of sexual assault from initial report of sexual assault through disposition and resolution.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • May be subject to occasional 24/7 on-call SARC responsibilities.
  • The selectee must successfully complete the 6-week SHARP Career Course within 6-months of employment. Failure to obtain the DOD certification within the six months may be grounds for removal.
  • This position requires a secret security clearance.
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting response efforts for victims of sexual harassment or sexual assault; educating the servicing population on the Sexual Harassment/ Assault Response Prevention (SHARP) program and/or services available; and serving as a member of the command's Sexual Assault Review Board. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Psychology or Sociology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityIncident ManagementSexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Additional Conditions of Employment: This position involves duties that are sensitive and confidential in nature. The selectee's background will be checked against records maintained by the following prior to appointment and, as appropriate, on a recurring basis while employed in the position: The Department of Justice National Sex Offenders Registry, Army Criminal Investigation Command/Crime Records Center, previous employer references, State and Local Police, Official Personnel Folder, including adverse action files, Army Inspector General, Army Military Human Resources, Army Substance Abuse Program. The selectee must successfully complete SHARP Training Course(s) IAW SHARP Program requirements and obtain DoD certification within initial 6 months of employment. Failure to complete training and obtain the DoD certification within prescribed timeframes may result in removal from the position and/or Federal service. All Army SHARP Professionals that must obtain and maintain a Defense Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program (D-SAACP) as a condition of employment will be required to submit to a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check is required for all states of residence in the previous five years and enrollment in the Continuous Evaluation (CE) program. This position offers a $20,000 recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed. You are considered newly appointed if this is your first appointment as a Federal Government civilian employee or if you have a minimum of a 90-day break in service from a previous Federal civilian position. You may qualify with a break in service of less than 90 days only if your previous Federal civilian appointment was a time limited or NOT a permanent appointment. Your recruitment bonus will be made in two payments of $10,000. You receive the first payment when you enter on duty, second payment at your first year anniversary. This bonus requires a two-year service obligation to the Army Reserve. If you fail to serve the specified period, you may be subject to repay the agency recruitment incentive.
