This position is located in Memphis, TN and will work within the Mental Health Service as a Program Support Assistant. This position provides a complete range of program support which includes customer service coordination, data analysis and graphing program specific projects, monitors, and compiles data from the local facility, as well as VACO, the VA center of Excellence, and VISN 9 to meet the goals and program guidelines for the VAMC Memphis Mental Health Service.
Duties
Major Duties:Program Support Assistant positions are open for the following departments within Mental Health Service:
PRRC (1 Vacancy)
BHIP (1 Vacancy)
PCMHI (1 Vacancy)
Administrative Float (1 Vacancy)
Homeless (1 Vacancy)
MHICM (1 Vacancy)
Prepares correspondence, i.e. letters, proposals, meeting minutes, conferences, confidential material, reports and surveys.
Inputs evaluation/data into the computer.
Responsible for collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and entering data for completeness and accuracy.
Provides a wide-range of assistance to program's clinical staff.
Transcribes and types forms via Dictaphone or written methods.
Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, schedules meetings.
Creates and maintains files of agency regulations, guidelines, directive, and manuals.
Responsible for work orders for repairs, supplies, and equipment.
Initiates Fiscal and Acquisition forms and purchase card orders.
Work Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday, 8-4:30, but may have occasional evening and weekend hours, based on operational needs.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/14/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing administrative and clerical support to a multi-disciplinary team in support of the mission of the organization; strong ability to work independently to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities, and knowledge of computer skills.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but may require some minimal walking and occasional bending or lifting/carrying light materials. The position demands periods of intense concentration and the ability to maintain self-control in difficult situations.
