The Primary Purpose of the Position: Serves as the Financial Accounts Technician to the Community Nursing Home (CNH) Program, Community Adult Day Health Care (CADHC) Program, the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Bowel and Bladder (B&B) Program, and other Community Care Programs as applicable under Social Work Service at the North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS).
The Organizational Location of the Position is: Social Work Service, at VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, Texas.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Independently performs a variety of accounting duties and eligibility determinations utilizing VISTA, electronic medical record, various excel spreadsheets and memos.
Independently determines entitlement and appropriate payment rates/schedules for approved services.
Incumbent will provide vendors with verbal or written information concerning status of claims, notification of documentation required to complete claims, authorized forms, denial/approval letters, and other notifications required in the processing of a claim.
Frequently spot checks invoices forwarded to the payment center to ensure payments were processed and follows up accordingly.
Establishes controls to monitor programs to ensure all pertinent authorizations, documents and signatures are on file prior to processing payments or denials of claims.
As pertaining to each program and/or assigned, incumbent will provide providers with written correspondence informing required documentation, denials, statement of case, and any other notifications required in the processing of a veteran's claim.
Incumbent is responsible for the registration and maintenance of Veteran and vendor files in VISTA, eCAMS, HSRM, and other systems as indicated by VA guidance.
Responsible for establishing and updating vendor information (process is known as vendorizing) with the appropriate payment agency to include social and demographic data, medical specialty code and tax identification number for all Community Nursing Home, CNH's.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge in processing invoices.; Managing fund control points and obligating funds.; Excellent customer service skills; and Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Successfully completed 4 years education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
