About the position: This position will be assigned to the library facility of the 6th Force Support Squadron Sustainment Flight, MacDill AFB, FL. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of sitting and standing; recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, and reaching; pushing loaded book trucks and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. Must be physically able to frequently lift boxes up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach up to 72 inches.

Duties

Plans, in conjunction with Supervisory Librarian, the library monthly programming schedules for groups of all ages. Plans, prepares, administers & hosts library programs. Processes after-action reports and evaluations for administered programs to include monthly programming participation numbers. Represents the library at public relations meetings. Assists Supervisory Librarian in developing the library marketing plan & assists in carrying out marketing activities in person or through online social media. Develops publicity and marketing materials for review, approval and publication. Uses varied and advanced functions of computer processing to prepare, format, modify, edit, email and print a variety of letters, memos and other documents. Conducts library tours and orientations. Monitors circulation and technical service operations and resolves problems and deviations. Assists in writing standard operating procedures and instructions. Trains new staff in satisfactory customer service assistance, reference, circulation and technical service procedures and processes. Devises information search strategies pertaining to the library's holdings and utilizes online information and tools to provide reference services to patrons. Catalogs library resources using the OPAC and OCLC records. Assists the Supervisory Librarian in cataloging quality control checks and inventory to verify records match the items in the collection. Evaluates customer service procedures, reference assistance, circulation and technical service policies, procedures and processes. Recommends improvements and/or changes. Independently carries out assignments. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of sitting and standing; recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, and reaching; pushing loaded book trucks and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. Must be able to lift boxes of up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach up to 72 inches with or without the assistance of a step stool. Must have specialized experience in a library that provided specific knowledge of library rules, and; policies & procedures for programming, circulation and technical services. Must be able to read, write, speak English and communicate effectively. Must have computer experience in using computer software such as Microsoft Office, Publisher, Library OPACs, digital learning applications, research databases, e-mail, the Internet & other modern technologies and equipment. Strong typing skills are required; must be able to type 40 words per minute. Must possess skill in working with peers and working with the public in order to host library activities with patrons of all ages. Must have the ability to assist the Librarian in leading the team & implementing policy & procedure changes as necessary. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
