THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a WG-5803-11 HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D3141000 in FAC 42B100 and is part of the MO 139th Airlift Wing.
APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Permanent Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position.
Duties
Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic(s).
Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures.
Estimates time, equipment and material requirements.
Devises and maintains plans and records.
May provide recommendations and input to supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave.
Performs the full range of shop work.
Implements safety regulatory requirements.
Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
Performs other duties as assigned.

- This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: - Must possess experience or training that has provided you with the skill to make repairs or the ability to assist with repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts.
WG-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 36 months of specialized experience which demonstrates your ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems; Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment; This specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability to apply independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems and in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on heavy mobile vehicles, equipment and systems.
Education
This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
