THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POLICE OFFICER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD2155000 and is part of the TN 118th WING Air National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 116 (Music City Chapter)

Duties

As a POLICE OFFICER, GS-0083-06, you will perform and enforce the full range of security forces duties within the military installation. Serve as a Security Forces Dispatcher for the installation. Perform the full range of Base Entry Controller and commercial vehicle inspection duties. Perform the full range of duties for defending protection level resources (Patrol, Security Response Team (I-SRT & E-SRT). Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • To qualify for this series, a current physical and a cleared drug test are mandatory.
  • Never convicted of domestic violence IAW the Lautenberg Amendment. No more than one active wage garnishment for delinquency
  • No history of excessive alcohol use or arrested in the past two years for two or more alcohol related incidents regardless of disposition, except when proven not guilty
  • Must possess a valid state driver?s license to operate government motor vehicles (GMV) in accordance with AFI 24-301, Vehicle Operations.
  • Must not have used, distributed, or manufactured illicit narcotics or been arrested for any narcotics use, distribution or manufacturing.
  • Qualified to bear firearms according to AFI 31-117, ?Arming and Use of Force by Air Force Personnel

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-3 through E-7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.
