These positions serve as the Logistics Management Specialist with responsibility for direction and control of logistics planning at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY. Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration. Term appointments may be extended without further competition. The primary purpose of this position is to direct, develop and implement policy programs and procedures for the accurate management of Supply Chain Management (SCM) planning and provides administrative and technical oversight to a lower-graded specialist. As a SCM Team Member, the position collaborates with the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO), VAMC Senior Management leadership, Veterans Integrated Service Network staff (VISN), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) program office and Senior Management and leadership in supported activities developing supply chain management strategies in support of f the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must meet have possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of a Logistics Management Specialist and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes, serving as a team lead or senior specialist in supply chain management, assisting with the direction and control of logistics planning; analyze product delivery or supply chain processes to identify or recommend changes; performing data analysis, and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities. This position requires some degree of specialized knowledge and experience of logistics support activities in areas of acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations.
