You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/RECYCLING DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will begin all responsibility statements with 'You will'; each field should have no more than one sentence; list the responsibilities in a logical order; and avoid using federal or military jargon. 250 Characters.
You will ensure all safety precautions are followed when collecting and processing material as well as operating material handling equipment.
You will ensure all machines are properly cleaned and free of obstructions before and after operation; assures that machine capacities are not exceeded.
You will operate equipment over smooth, rough and sometimes muddy terrain, through narrow aisles, in buildings or outside storage, open areas and semi-truck enclosed vans.
You will use proper procedures to determine weight and size requirements to properly load and unload large bulky items which may weigh up to 20,000 pounds.
You will pre-check, general inspections and cleanliness of all vehicles and equipment that will be operated and to report any discrepancies immediately.
You will perform minor repair and lubrication of above equipment and prepares draft work orders for major maintenance.
You will conduct a variety of tests to determine type and quality of recyclable material such as magnetic checks and other tests to determine solubility of similar contaminants.
You will perform other duties as assigned in support of command operations.

- You will be required to obtain a valid Washington State driver's license. Out of state license is acceptable however incumbent must have it transferred to a Washington State License within 30 days of hire. Failure to do so may result in removal.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required available for call back outside of normal working hours, regular and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position.
- You will be required to work inside and outside in all weather conditions in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted.

I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
