The primary purpose of this position is to plan, lay out, repair, modify, and fabricate unconventional one-of-a-kind composite, plastic, and sheet metal items and assemblies that typically have numerous compound curves and intersecting compound angles.
Duties
Repair, modify, and manufacture honeycomb adhesive bonded advanced composite aircraft structures that have contours that must be re-established or that require the manufacture of a modification using the available part, pattern, or material.
Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, automated ultrasonic inspection results, manufacturer specifications, and verbal instructions from design engineers to repair or manufacture advanced composite components.
Operates, maintains and controls tools and equipment used in fabrication.
Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4300 Pliable Materials Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside and outside and is subjected to noise and vibration from shop machines, high temperatures from curing ovens and heat lamps and to a variety of weather conditions. Work conditions frequently include exposure to dust, fumes, and toxic and/or potentially flammable and explosive chemicals that can cause skin, eye, and lung irritations. Employee may also be exposed to injury while operating machines and power tools. Required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing duties.
