Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will be placed in a pay status and can expect to work a minimum of 20 pay periods not to exceed a maximum of 25 pay periods. You will be place in a non-pay status from approximately early December to late January, unless other work exists that can be assigned to you during this period.

Duties

Complete all aspects of routine tree care for a small orchard, as part of a maintained historic landscape. Tree care includes watering trees, pruning trees for health and vigor, managing tree diseases, fertilizing trees, and planting trees. Use and maintain hand tools, power tools and small tractors for lawn, grounds and tree care. Perform job duties safely following required safety protocols. Complete basic maintenance on an irrigation system. Irrigation system includes in-ground waterline, and above-ground gravity fed channels. Perform condition assessments on tree health and vigor, and structural stability of trees through the knowledge of tree identification, components, and structure. Area Information: This position is based in Lees Ferry, near Marble Canyon, Arizona. Lees Ferry is about 50 miles from the nearest town of Page, Arizona, and 130 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, the nearest larger community. Lees Ferry is situated along the beautiful Colorado River, 15 miles downstream of the Glen Canyon Dam, and is the launching point for Colorado River trips. The surrounding land of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area offers beautiful red rock country for hiking and backcountry recreational activity. Lees Ferry is centrally located to many other public lands, such as the Grand Canyon North Rim, Vermillion Cliffs, Kaibab National Forest, to name a few. The town of Page offers normal community amenities such as shopping, medical and dental facilities, K-12 schools, and college courses available through local Coconino Community College. The area enjoys typical high desert climate with temperatures ranging from 100+ in summer to mid-teens in winter with low humidity and sunshine most days of the year. Home purchases and rentals are available in the Page and surrounding area.
