The position is located in the Education Service at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. The incumbent will perform support work for educational programs that enhance existing skills and promote growth of employees. S/he will also provide counseling and resources to individuals who are interested in self-development.
Duties
Duties consist of the following, but are not limited to:
Develop, revise, maintain, record, and/or instructing educational courses.
Perform duties that involve the testing of students which includes planning and scheduling.
Develop and review testing procedures.
Integrate the new employee into the organization and assists with retention, motivation, job satisfaction and quickly enabling each employee to become contributing members of the work team.
Perform logistical support work necessary to ensure effective operation of training program activities for both live and virtual education.
Promotes awareness of and arranges access to a wide range of educational activities, including face to race training, satellite broadcast, video conferences and audio conferences.
Manages documentation and record entry for identified programs by manual or automated systems as directed.
Performs administrative duties as back-up for answering the main ESS telephone number and covers the ESS front desk as needed.
Performs activities directly related to educational tracking processes. including development and oversight of manual and or automated registration/sign in process.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/01/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 and for a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

For the GS-6
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performs clerical or technical duties; Prepare reports; Technical competence in automated information systems; Perform work using SharePoint software, website, Excel spreadsheet applications, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft word processing, and other comparable software packages; Plan, organize work and set priorities; Track and manage multiple activities.
For the GS-7
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (GS-6/7):
Creating and using spreadsheets.
Customer Service.
Training/instructing experience preferred but not required.
Experience with Microsoft office products.
Public speaking.

Physical Requirements: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion. Such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, and other similar activities. Employees engage in such exertion when teaching, modeling, or performing techniques to apprehend or detain a person. The work will require regular and repetitive lifting and carrying heavy objects of 50 pounds or less.
