About the Position: Perform duties related to the documentation of patient care using manual and automated systems to support work to process and maintain medical records for the serviced population, perform a variety of administrative support duties, and ensure compliance with local, Department of Defense (DOD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and Joint Commission (JC) requirements.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.
Duties
Register new patients into automated system.
Review medical records to ensure the necessary components are present, complete, and filed in proper sequence.
Analyze medical records to determine validity.
Perform weekly quality reviews to evaluate consistency within medical records.
Utilize current policies and instructions to screen medical records for complete administrative sufficiency.
Compile medical record reports for the department.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes registering new patients into healthcare systems, compiling reports and/or appropriate forms for department, assisting with medical records and/or forms for patients.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
