This vacancy is for a Administrative Technician position at the U.S. Census Bureau, Denver Regional Office located in Lakewood, CO.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Administrative Technician, 0303, 6, FPL GS-6 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Audits, computes, and certifies payroll data, travel certifications and miscellaneous invoices for payment in an automated system; and initiate requests for personnel actions in order to provide administrative support to managers and employees.
Coordinates and monitors all recruitment activities for excepted service Field Representative and Senior Field Representative positions.
Prepares close out packages for audit to ensure that recruitment process was in accordance with established procedures.
Compiles administrative reports using database or spreadsheet software; and maintains administrative records electronically.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To be minimally qualified for this position, applicants MUST have a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors based on a five-minute sample.
AND
Specialized Experience: For the GS-06, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service.
Experience for this position includes: Computing, auditing, and certifying employee payroll data in an automated environment; researching and compiling information used to prepare travel or miscellaneous invoices and reviewing, verifying, and auditing travel and miscellaneous invoices for payment; receiving and reviewing applications for minimum qualifications, veterans preference, and preparing selection certificates; answering basic applicant questions on applicant procedures for advertised vacancies; maintaining administrative records electronically such as travel certifications, personnel actions, time & attendance and leave records, training and requisition documents using spreadsheet software to track the status of documents such as action items, controlled correspondence, meeting schedules, travel, etc., and to retrieve and manipulate data to meet reporting requirements.
Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
