The primary purpose of this position is: Under the supervision of the Community/Special Event/Family Recreation Center Director assists in planning, developing, managing, and maintaining a broad range of community recreational activities, special events, classes and food operations.
Duties
Assists in the planning, implementation, development, coordination, and administration of a community/family recreation program which is diversified and serves a participant community of active duty, retired military, reserve forces, authorized civilian employees, and their dependents.
Assists in the marketing and publicizing community/family recreation programs.
Assists the Director with the execution of and administration of operating budget.
Represents the Community/Family Recreation Program with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Performs the duties of facility manager and directs facility maintenance and daily upkeep for Community / Special Event / Family Recreation Center and Base Theater.

- Work will require duties on weekends, evenings and holidays. Work shifts may exceed 10 hour days occasionally
- If the position is required to operate a motor vehicle, the incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use IAW AFI 90-508, Attachment 2, Category I, Type 2: Motor Vehicle Operators

- This is a Temporary position NTE 1 YEAR. The individual selected for this position may be extended without further competition
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Recreation Specialist, Series 0188.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs; planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels; instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management; or serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations.
OR
EDUCATION: One full year of graduate level education in a field with a major course of study in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation OR a bachelor's degree in a subject area related to the position and claiming Superior Academic Achievement. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit copies of transcript.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the basic principles, procedures, and practices of operating a community recreation programs, special events and family recreational programming.
2. Knowledge of common budgetary practices, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures as relating to various recreation activities and facility management operations.
4. Skill in preparing forms, schedules, and reports related to the obligation and expenditure of funds.
5. Skill in planning, organizing, coordinating, and/or evaluating recreation programs and facility maintenance.
6. Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze program information; draw conclusions and recommend solutions to problems.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
