Duties

Achieving and maintaining eLitigation proficiency among attorneys and staff is a top priority of the Department of Justice and the United States Attorney's Office. The Assistant United States Attorney selected for this position will be responsible for improving and overseeing the office's eLitigation operations. This includes advising and/or consulting with civil and criminal case teams, automated litigation support and IT personnel, management, and others, such as the Court, Federal Public Defender, law enforcement and client agencies, on substantive electronic litigation (eLitigation) and discovery issues, ensuring optimal discovery processes, evaluating and updating the office's eLitigation policies and protocols, including procedures for processing, reviewing, producing, and managing electronic discovery, and coordinating litigation support work. The Assistant United States Attorney selected for this position will be responsible for providing training on litigation technology software tools and applications and best practices for use of those tools, as well as developments in the law regarding eLitigation. This is not a trial AUSA position, The selected candidate will be an attorney advisor, who will be primarily dedicated to coordinating the office's eLitigation program. The AUSA will be located in the Minneapolis office and will be assigned work in the Civil and Criminal Divisions. While this announcement seeks an attorney interested coordinating the office's eLitigation program, individuals hired as AUSAS are assigned at the U.S. Attorney's discretion. The Office also has an active open and continuous job announcement (23-MN-11856298-AUSA-CRM) that generally seeks attorneys interested in joining our Criminal Division in any of its sections. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) and have at least 1* year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have two or more of the following: Current or prior experience as an AUSA, Ability to function with minimal guidance in a demanding office. Experience with complex civil or criminal litigation. Experience using litigation technology applications to acquire, organize, analyze, manage, and present electronic discovery and evidence. Experience developing and/or drafting eLitigation policies, procedures, or pleadings. The capacity to work effectively with a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment. Experience litigating cases in federal or state courts, with responsibility for investigation, discovery, and trial. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and ability to use computers and computer applications in performing day-to-day work requirements. Applicants must also demonstrate the following: Desire to work as an AUSA in the District of Minnesota. Commitment to excellence, strong work ethic, and drive, which may be demonstrated through successful teamwork, leadership, obstacles overcome, and personal, academic, and professional achievement. Quick analytical ability and the facility to articulate the critical issues accurately and precisely in a case. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff, the court, and partner law enforcement agencies. Capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment and be substantially self-sufficient in day-to-day work. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
