This position provides administrative and clinical supervision of the Behavioral Health Department of the Fort Peck Service Unit in Poplar, MT. Incumbent reports to the Clinical Director or designee.
Duties
Provides full range of psychological services including evaluation, diagnosis, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention and specialized treatment modalities for mental health problems of adults, adolescents and families. Provides consultation to wide variety of hospital staff on mental health issues. Enter patient information into the electronic health record system and completes timely and accurate medical documentation. Provides crisis interventions services to patients with a wide variety of acute mental health problems.
Manages and mentors staff, plans schedules, distributes, coordinates and monitor's work for the department and staff. Evaluates performance of employees supervised. Sets department goals and monitors progress.
Collaborates with other medical professionals and community partners to provide a comprehensive plan and approach to patients' total health.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Individual Occupational Requirements
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-14: Responsible for overall planning, organizing, improving and implementing behavioral, health issues; provide administrative, supervision for behavioral health staff and clinical supervision for appropriate staff to assure compliance with accrediting bodies; provide psychological care and consultation services, to patients in the area while establishing behavioral health standards of care and as a senior clinician; provide a wide range of psychological testing, evaluation and clinical services; provide leadership in the development of policies and procedures, related to outpatient psychiatric services; devise strategies and plans for the clinical psychology department according to established standards for excellent service and growth; recruit employees to ensure department is staffed with qualified personnel; assign cases and create schedules for all employees; coordinate and supervise staff providing constructive feedback; provide personnel with clinical training and opportunities for continuous development; evaluate performance and discipline employees when necessary; monitor compliance to legal guidelines, internal policies and quality standards.

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
