These positions serve as an Accounting Technician in the Administrative Services for Fiscal Service, Accounting Section of the VA Tennessee Valley Health Care System located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reviews and approves requisitions for services, supplies, real property, equipment, and adjustments for all appropriations
Performs comprehensive audits, analysis, evaluations, and related procedures for a purchase card system
Ensures proper accounting procedures are enforced to accurately record financial transactions
Prepares written reports on the results of audits, reviews, and evaluations
Researches current accounts, historical data, and source documents to develop and explain detailed information not otherwise readily available
Issues bills of collection when necessary
Utilizes various accounting system software package applications
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-7 level, you must meet the following:
Specialize Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the federal service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of an Accounting Technician independently. Specialized experience includes understanding accounting principles, methods, procedures, and techniques to conduct analysis; making determinations within an accounting system to validate transactions and to perform research to resolve inconsistencies; understand the interrelationship between appropriations and subsidiary records and control accounts; analyzing and detecting trends and problems affecting overall operations of accounting; tracing transactions entered and preparing worksheets or adjustments; and utilizing accounting system software package applications and computer systems to perform a variety of accounting duties. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary, but some walking, bending, and lifting is required as in a normal business environment.
