As the Mail Clerk, the principle duties and responsibilities of the position have five main components: Internal Distribution; Mail Analysis; Process Outgoing Mail; Controlled Mail; Facility Education and management of funds to assure the most appropriate use of the funding provided. Also, serves as a backup for the Duplicating Equipment Operator (Reproduction) during their absence.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Experience: Requires one full year of general experience defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or receiving and consolidating mail; distributing incoming and outgoing mail; other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. NOTE: Your resume must reflect the required experience.
OR,
Substitution of Education for Experience: Successful completion of two years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. (Copy of transcripts must be submitted with application and must reflect credit hours/grades earned.)
OR,
Combination of Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of one year) and general experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
***Incumbent must possess and maintain a current, valid state driver's license. The selectee will be required to provide a copy of their license immediately upon selection.***
Physical Requirements: The position places several physical demands upon the incumbent. Delivery routes require walking and traveling outside between buildings, in all type of weather. the incumbent is required to move wheeled postal hampers weighing up to 80 pounds. Incumbent is required to individually lift and place parcels weighing up to 50 pounds and, with assistance, parcels weighing up to 70 pounds. Work requires standing and walking for extended periods.
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in lighted, heated and air-conditioned facilities, but the incumbent may have limited exposure to inclement weather conditions.
