The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

Duties

This position is located in the Office of Facilities and Logistics, Chief Administrative Officer, United States Capitol Police (USCP). Assess current space utilization, makes recommendation for innovative and efficient use of assigned space, and forecast future space requirements. This includes project management, managing facilities, furniture, furnishing and equipment, interior office signage, key control and locker programs, work orders, and the USCP Parking and Transit Programs. Coordinates, administers, and logistically plans, executes, and assesses and assist in planning all departmental maintenance, repair, rehabilitation. Serves as liaison personnel between USCP and the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) for the facility management requirements. Coordinates activities relating to the physical operation, maintenance and in-house repair, and improvements of facilities, grounds, parking lots and entry ways occupied by USCP. Works with AOC to provide logistical oversight to planned work, monitoring activities related to facility support services installations, relocations, special projects, performing site surveys for space measurement allocations. Coordination with occupational and safety personnel to inspect all USCP occupied facilities. Resolve issues that result in work delays or cancellations due to inclement weather, emergency or unforeseen circumstances. Arranges and replaces variety of furniture and facility related equipment at customer request and ensure proper disposal of obsolete or broken furniture and equipment. Assists with managing funds for facility management program. Manages USCP Locker program maintaining locker inventory in multiple locations. Administer Keywatcher system for the Department and determine operational needs, locations and infrastructure requirements. Manages and executes Special Events Planning program in support of operational needs for recurring an unplanned events

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. For the CP-7 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-6/GS-8 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes: 1) Knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices supporting facility administration and operations as it relates to property, facilities, building, plans and grounds; 2) Ability to carry out work assignments and projects to support the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and improvements relating to all facilities and 3) Physical exertion such as long periods of walking and standing, recurring bending, lifting, and moving moderately heavy equipment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Education may be substituted for experience. For CP-7: Candidate may possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D.
