About the Position: Serve as Lead Security Guard for a 24/7 operation, performs various aspects of security work designed to maintain law and order and preserve the peace for the Eisenhower Army Medical Center (EAMC), assigns guards to duty posts and patrols based on work assignment sheets. Makes day-to-day adjustments to assignments of personnel and transmits information in accordance with (IAW) established or special instructions.

Duties

Serve as the Shift Lead Security Guard with responsibility for leading patrol/static security guards. Provide armed guard services for protection of employees, visitors, contractors and VIPs and government property within the medical centers (MEDCENs) restricted areas. Execute the physical security, crime prevention and anti-terrorism programs as directed by the Hospital Provost Marshal/Security Officer. Enforcing special security measures and enforcing required security measures and protecting life and property. Maintain communications with mobile patrol units and posts and provide directions and information to officers on patrol assignment. Receive and transmit radio and telephone messages. Coordinate desk operation with officers from prior and succeeding shifts and assure that incomplete actions are fully understood by the relieving officer. Review and consolidate written reports of shift activities such as radio logs, incident and accident reports, activity reports.

Requirements

  • Individual must pass a security check and be capable of receiving a Department of Defense Secret clearance for continued employment.
  • Individual must pass drug screening prior to hiring and pass periodic drug and alcohol testing on an random basis.
  • Shift work is required in this position as well as work on weekends and holidays. In the event of an emergency (e.g., inclement weather, disaster coverage, etc.), employee may be required to report for duty outside of scheduled shift.
  • Must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
  • All Security Guards will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test. Failure to meet the physical agility test requirements will result in separation.
  • Must meet established hearing and vision tests.
  • Employee must qualify annually or within the requirement of AR 190-56 with a 9mm Semi-automatic pistol and be proficient in any other required firearms.
  • Must maintain competency in using the scanner metal detector and oleoresin capsicum (OC) pepper spray/foam.
  • As a condition of employment and continued employment individual must not have any criminal convictions nor receive any while employed in this position.
  • Incumbents must successfully complete and pass entrance physical and psychological examinations and follow-up examinations as determined by the Chief of EAMC Security.
  • Employee must wear a uniform.
  • Employee must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid. May act as first responder in medical emergency.
  • Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • Employees assigned to this position may be designated as Key (2) Mission Essential and assume essential personnel status during inclement weather/emergencies.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
