The position is a Program Support Assistant in the Mental Health Services at the Kearney Mesa CBOC. The incumbent is responsible for a full range of administrative coordination functions in support of the Mental Health Service Line. Applicant must be a current VA San Diego (or it's CBOC's) employee.

Duties

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Completes administrative assignments, as instructed, accurately and in a timely manner. Ensures compliance with leave policy, leave procedures, and documentation of time and attendance. Exhibits effective organizational skills and ensures administrative filing system is current and updated in a timely manner as required. Upon request, submits work orders. Ensures regular follow-up and tracking for all submitted work orders until completion. Ensures that work orders not completed in a timely manner are referred to immediate supervisor for assistance. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with national, local, and program specific policies, procedures and work rules. Maintains knowledge of the current operation of the service through regular attendance and active participation at service, staff, and team meetings. Communicates with the program lead, supervisor or designee about administrative issues, professional conduct, and relationships with other Medical Center staff that may result in service operational or image problems. Provides established education and training to Veterans, staff and mental health providers on the use of VA telehealth technologies, and serves as a point of contact to answer questions and address concerns related to these technologies. Provides established standardized competency-based training for telehealth technology, facilitating interactive simulations for clinical staff participating in telehealth programs. Participates in performance improvement activities aimed at improving the efficiency of the patient telehealth processes. Supports coordinating, installing, maintaining and managing the inventory of Tele Mental Health telehealth technologies including hardware and software with assistance of the facility telehealth coordinator, including traveling with approved government car, if feasible. Maintains knowledge of and skill in applying an extensive body of rules, procedures, and operations in telehealth-related technologies and a variety of computer hardware and software used for telecommunications, data entry and retrieval, record maintenance, document and report generation. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/05/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: procurement and budget management/reconciliation; administration, Maintenance of a complete and proper filing and record keeping system; knowledge of procedures required to compile statistics, complete data-based reports, maintain electronic forms and timecards; and knowledge of computer software (MS Word, Excel, etc). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
