Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Trust Funds Administration, Office of the Chief of Staff, Washington, D.C. At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Coordinates the administrative operations of the Executive Direction and Chief of Staff offices. 2. Manages the office's official signature process. 3. Maintains calendars and exercises control over appointments and meetings with authority for commitment of time. 4. Maintains oversight and responsibility for the effective and proper management of the overall office programs for the acquisition, utilization, and management of property, equipment, supplies, and services needed. 5. Serves as Records Point of Contact. The Bureau of Trust Funds Administration has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework a set number of day(s) per pay period with supervisor approval. Salary Information: GS-9: $64,957 - $84,441 (per annum) GS-11: $78,592 - 102,166 (per annum) First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. This vacancy is also announced as BTFA-7110-23-CM-059(MP) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures.

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements AND/OR (2) Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying. GS-09 To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level you must meet the (A) Specialized Experience OR (B) Educational Requirement OR (C) Combination of Education and Experience for the grade to which you are applying. NOTE: Applicants qualifying based in whole or part on education are required to provide transcripts (unofficial) as proof of meeting the requirements. Failure to provide the documents will result in you receiving an INELIGIBLE rating. A. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) managing executive correspondence to include proofing, editing, preparing correspondence for signature, and/or tracking the status of documents; 2) performing liaison function for senior or executive level staff by maintaining an appointment calendar; and 3) utilizing computer software (e.g. word-processing, desktop publishing, and graphs) to finalize correspondence, reports, presentations, and other types of media. If qualifying in whole on specialized experience applicants must meet all specialized experience statements described above. -OR- B. Education: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Transcripts required. -OR- C. Combination of Education and Experience: Have a combination of specialized experience and education that equals 100% of the requirement for the GS-9 level. Note: If qualifying based fully or partially on education, transcripts are required and must be submitted with your application. GS-11 To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level you must meet the (A) Specialized Experience OR (B) Educational Requirement OR (C) Combination of Education and Experience for the grade to which you are applying. NOTE: Applicants qualifying based in whole or part on education are required to provide transcripts (unofficial) as proof of meeting the requirements. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) managing executive correspondence to include proofreading, editing, preparing correspondence for signature, and/or tracking the status of documents; 2) monitoring, coordinating, and providing information to facilitate administrative activities for an office to include experience working with Microsoft Office software and programs for tracking and analysis purposes; 3) conducting research to prepare briefing materials, agenda, or reports for high level meetings; and 4) managing long-range calendars, scheduling travel, and completing all pre- and post-trip documentation for one or more high level executives. If qualifying in whole on specialized experience applicants must meet all specialized experience statements described above. -OR- B. Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Transcripts required. -OR- C. Combination of education and experience: Have a combination of specialized experience and education that equals 100% of the requirement for the GS-11 level. Note: If qualifying based fully or partially on education, transcripts are required and must be submitted with your application.
