You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist in the Air, Asbestos, and PCB Branch of the Environment Division, Environment, Safety and Health Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will act as Environmental Protection Specialist Supervisor for the Shipyard on areas under your cognizance in discussions and consultations with other Shipyard departments. You will supervise the professional and technical work of subordinate workers, such as Environmental Protection Specialists, along with environmental and chemical engineers. You will work in the Air Branch including Clean Air Act compliance, permitting/reporting and Asbestos, Polychlorinated Biphenyls and contract support management. You will analyze environmental information to coordinate work with engineers and scientists. You will advise management on environmental compliance of facilities and operations. You will ensure timely completion and quality of assigned work through subordinate Program Managers. You will resolve conflicts between subordinate sections or between subordinate sections and other Shipyard organizational units. You will evaluate performance of subordinate personnel for annual performance rating and merit promotion purposes. You will represent the Shipyard in negotiations with regulatory agencies (USEPA, WDOE, PSCAA etc.) on compliance issues. You will conduct formal and informal inspections or investigations of incidents or ongoing operations for compliance with the Clean Air Act.

Requirements

  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing Environmental Compliance management or guidance to environmental engineers or environmental protection specialists to ensure regulatory compliance for an Environmental program.
