Duties

You will conduct law enforcement safety lectures to enforce safe work practices on the job site. You will review and evaluate law enforcement staff actions for adherence to installation or training policies. You will collaborate with training facilities (e.g., installation personnel, regional training academy staff) to supplement course instruction. You will discuss with students the procedures required in law enforcement.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

• You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as a senior law enforcement instructor to provide classroom instruction on the practical use of law enforcement equipment and the application of techniques; 2) Developing course content in the instructional areas of security/law enforcement, evidence collection and preservation, terrorism, laws of arrest, search and seizure, basic criminology, accident investigations, etc.; 3) Maintaining training records to ensure personnel and organization meets certification/qualifications; and 4) Providing Firearms Safety, weapons training and qualifications in accordance with command instructions and policies.
