This position is located within the Information Technology Department at the Hopi Health care Center, in Polacca, AZ. The position is responsible for the installation, daily operation, maintenance and problem resolution for multi-user and personal computer systems running the Indian Health Service (IHS) Clinical Applications Software and office automation programs.
Duties

Information Management Services:
System Operation Support: Determines the information system needs of the facility and program by evaluating alternative methods of meeting those needs within the constraints of IHS policies and budget; analyzes data sources, information use, data processing, storage requirements, and information flow; prepares feasibility studies, cost analyses, and other studies to evaluate alternative methods of meeting information system needs.
Administrative Support: Maintains the current versions of a variety of computer system software and manuals. Maintains security provisions set forth by IHS and evaluates for compliance. Assists data entry personnel in alternative procedures in case of extended system malfunction. Develops and maintains monthly department activity log. Equipment inventory, network topology, needed reports, and required documentation.
Training: Coordinates the preparation and distribution of instructional materials related to the systems. Provides administrative and clinical users with training on new or modified data entry procedures and in the use of application software in sufficient detail to allow them to operate efficiently.
Clinical Applications Coordinator Responsibilities:
In cooperation with the Clinical Applications Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for the implementation and support of multi-service software packages that automate the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval. Coordinates with Phoenix Area IRM staff and other clinical application coordinators to implement integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and insure smooth operation in areas where package scope overlaps or is integrated with other service functions.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-07:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: ability to communicate factual and procedural information clearly; gather and analyze basic facts to draw conclusions; general knowledge of a broad range of integrated health information systems such as Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR); basic knowledge of network configuration techniques, computer equipment, and system software to determine source of failures.
OR
Completed 1 full year of graduate-level education or have superior academic achievement, in a field that is directly related to the work of this position.

Class standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision and based on completed courses.
Grade-point average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a G.P.A. of: a.) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (''B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or b.) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society - Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed here Association of College Honor Societies. Combination of specialized experience and graduate education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position (Must submit copy of transcripts).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, 09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: knowledge and ability to apply customer service and customer support principles and methods; knowledge and ability to install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot any hardware and software components; present formal and informal training and assistance to customers; knowledge of CACHE, Windows operating systems to include server editions, Microsoft Office applications, Active Directory, Exchange, Mumps and other programming environments; knowledge of LAN/WAN (Local Area Network/Wide Area Network) standards and equipment sufficient to install, configure and troubleshoot LAN and WAN components such as routers, switches and servers.
OR
Completed 2 full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. (Must submit copy of transcripts).
OR
Completed a master's or equivalent degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or have completed a LL.B. or J.D., if related. (Must submit copy of transcripts).
OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-09 grade level (Must submit copy of transcripts).
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
