The Maintenance Mechanic Leader is responsible for routine and emergency maintenance and repair as well as leading workers to accomplish trades and labor work and ensuring the quality of the work performed by workers. Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Convey to other workers the instructions received project assignment from the supervisor and get work underway by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the Construction Crew; work along with other workers and set the work pace; and ensure that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available.
Obtain needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that arise during the work, and maintain a current knowledge in order to answer questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other technical directives.
Ensure there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy; checking work in progress and at completion to ensure compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines; urging and advising other workers to follow instructions received from supervisor and to meet deadlines; and ensure that safety rules are followed.
Report to supervisor the status and progress of work and causes of work delays, employees in attendance; and answer supervisor's questions regarding overall work operations and problems, e.g., the need for additional on-the-job training for individual employees.
Work Leader will lead a construction crew of 3-9 employees, working individually or in groups, who may be maintenance mechanics, carpenters, telecommunications mechanics, electricians, and pipefitter. The mix of occupations led will be based on the needs of the project.
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday (Compressed Work Schedule); 7:00am - 4:30pm

Physical Requirements: Work is performed from ladders, platforms, under equipment, in crawl spaces, in areas that are hot, in hard to reach locations, and outdoors. Employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl and work in uncomfortable positions. Employee will be exposed to the physical demands on a daily basis. Employee will lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
