About the Position: This is a Public Affairs Specialist, GS-1035-09 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, Public Affairs Office.
Duties
Writes, coordinates, and arranges for production of presentations designed for specific audiences.
Conceives, writes, and designs brochures, pamphlets, and other printed public information materials to inform/educate sponsors and the general public of OMAHA DISTRICT projects and activities.
Assists with conducting the District's Command information programs and assists with public information campaigns through updating web and social media sites.
Compiles photos, videos, writes press releases, and other materials to communicate Omaha District's programs.
Answers oral and written public inquiries and composes replies to correspondence concerning OMAHA DISTRICT and Corps missions and activities.
Evaluates and coordinates with the Omaha district staff all requests for visits and interviews from the media.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience developing content for items such as video, print, and/or web; AND 2) Experience creating computer graphics/desktop publishing; AND 3) Experience writing articles for publication. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
