This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Library Buildings and Grounds, Facilities Support Division, Fort Meade Operations and Maintenance Branch. The Maintenance Mechanic performs general operations, maintenance and repair of Building Automation and HVAC Systems. The work may include, but not limited to maintenance, repair and installation of; commercial/industrial air condition and heating systems, plumbing systems, fire sprinkler systems, and electrical systems.

For WG-11
Ability to perform Maintenance Mechanic duties and responsibilities without more than normal supervision to include:
Independently applying a variety of trade practices (e.g., electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, HVAC repair) to plan, layout and complete the installation, modification, and repair of facility equipment;
Performing planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance on electronic and Direct Digital Controls (DDCs) including but not limited to: electronic dampers, electronic valves, variable speed drives, and variable air volume systems.
Operating, maintaining, replacing, and troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFD).
Testing electrical circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment
For WG-10
Ability to perform Maintenance Mechanic duties and responsibilities without more than normal supervision to include:
Applying a variety of trade practices (e.g., electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, HVAC repair) to plan, layout and complete the installation, modification, and repair of facility equipment with minimal assistance.
Troubleshooting, repairing, and installing a variety of cooling and heating systems with minimal assistance.
Troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical circuits, controls and components with minimal assistance.
Education
