About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W30MAA US ARMY TEST AND EVALUATION COMMAND. THE ORGANIZATION IS HIRING ONE POSITION AT THIS LOCATION. THE POSITION MAY BE HIRED AT THE GG-07 OR GG-09 LEVEL.

Duties

Serves as Security Specialist performing tasks in Information Security (INFOSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Information Systems Security, Personnel Security (PERSEC), Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and National Disclosure programs. Implements procedures and guidelines regarding protection of varying security interests in the assigned areas of responsibility. Prepares regulations, supplements, memoranda, and circulars for the assigned areas of responsibility. Conducts security surveys and inspections in the areas of assigned responsibility. Processes requests from foreign governments for disclosure of information. Participates in Operations Security (OPSEC) surveys. Provides backup as the alternate special security officer for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) program. Conducts scheduled security orientation and training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required 20% or less of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the ability to drive a government vehicle on Army Installations.

OR A Bachelor's Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application). OR A Bachelor's Degree that is supplemented by at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarters hours that are closely related to the position. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application). OR A Bachelor's with Superior Academic Achievement as defined by OPM. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application). OR A Bachelor's Degree supplemented by graduation from the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course (MIOBC) or the Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course (MIOAC). (NOTE: Transcripts and certificates must be submitted with application). GG-9: To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized experience is defined one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GG/GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes one or more of the following security disciplines: Information Security (INFOSEC), Physical Security, Personnel Security (PERSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC) Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and National Disclosure programs. OR A Master's Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. OR A Master's Degree or Law Degree (LLB or JD) that is supplemented by at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarters hours that are closely related to the position. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
