Duties

The selectee will serve as Communications Operations Specialist in the Office of Investigations, Dallas, TX; Newark, NJ; or New York City Field Office. Typical work assignments include: Providing technical support and information to Special Agents by coordinating and exercising safety protocols; serving as the initial contact and coordination for emergency situations; researching, analyzing, and developing investigative leads; and collaborating and resolving security related issues with law enforcement agencies regarding protective and investigative information. Maintaining a database log of criminal history requests, and incidents occurring during the shift; providing information by searching databases, researches and collects data, identifies inaccuracies and anomalies in collected information. Preparing incident reports on protective and criminal information received and routes information for immediate response by an agent and/or officer; collaborating and liaising with local, state and other Federal law enforcement agencies to provide and request information and receiving telephone information from a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, utilizing best practices for in communicating information to stakeholders. Providing technical support and information to Special Agents by operating and monitoring a multi-frequency radio telecommunications console; coordinating the use of alternate radio frequencies for protective details; transmitting and receiving messages over nationwide network computer systems. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting base salary $49,028) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level performing duties such as: transmitting and receiving messages over nationwide computer network systems, receiving telephone information from a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders; researching criminal records and developing investigative leads such as outstanding criminal warrants and other pertinent records; and preparing incident reports on protective and criminal information; OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR A combination of graduate level education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting base salary $59,319) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 level performing duties such as: preparing incidents reports on protective and criminal information received and routes information for immediate response, maintaining data base log of criminal history requests, collaborating with local, state and other federal law enforcement agencies to provide and receive information, developing standard operating procedures and utilizing best practices in communicating information to stakeholders, researching criminal records and developing investigative leads such as outstanding criminal warrants; OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR  LL.M., if related; OR A combination of graduate level education and experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
