Duties

You will prepare surfaces by methods such as sanding, scraping, wire brushing and masking, paints automotive vehicles and tactical equipment with protective and decorative materials using spray equipment and brush. You will apply lettering with stencils, decalcomania and camouflage striping/or pattern painting. You will prepare surfaces for painting and determines when surface is ready to paint and applies appropriate materials such as epoxies and polyurethanes, in the proper sequence. You will apply camouflage pattern painting, registration marking and identification requirement on Marine Corps tactical equipment. You will operate overhead projector for purpose of camouflage striping. You will prepare surfaces by chipping, buffing, sanding, and/or wire brushing to remove old paint, scale, rust, dirt and foreign matter, using hand tools, chemical paint removers and power equipment to accomplish tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain Respirator medical clearance annually.
  • You will be required to successfully complete Respirator Training within 3 months after the date of appointment.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Position is subject to SHIFT WORK 1st 0630-1600** and 2nd shift 1530-0100** positions maybe filled.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Tasks included are: Performing masking and letter-stencil jobs, removing grease, scale, rust, dirt and old paint from surfaces so that coating materials will adhere properly, and applying fillers and base coats.
