You will serve as a PAINTER in the EXPEDITIONARY MAINTENANCE CENTER of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.

Duties

You will prepare and paint automotive and heavy construction equipment, ISO containers, parts, fiberglass boats and/or other components. You will determine method, techniques, devices and material needed to paint equipment You will prepare and paint automotive and heavy construction equipment with professional results. You will monitor and appropriately dispose of cleaning, thinning coating and waste materials. You will ensure work is completed in compliance with all safety regulations. You will ensure plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are readily available. You will place templates and stencils for insignia, numerals, letters and other markings.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Assisting with determining methods, techniques, for surface finishes; determine blends, matches, tints and tones to include CARC paints, Low-VOC polyurethanes requiring catalyst, urethanes, accelerators etc.; 2) Assisting with body work, conduct repair to various surfaces to include metal surfaces with DA sander, air file, needle gun etc.; 3) Applying paint insignias, markings, or other identifications and applies decals; 4) Maintaining shop safety procedure, clean tools after completion of assignments.
