Incumbent works as a Linen and Uniform Worker for the Environmental Management Service within the Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS). The incumbent is responsible for the removal of soiled linen and the distribution of clean linen throughout the facility where needed. The incumbent is also responsible for issuing employee uniforms and maintaining individual government property issue cards. Incumbent handles soiled linen bags on a daily basis and is required to lift and deposit bags.

Duties

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Lifts linen bags and/or service supplies weighing up to 30 pounds repetitively, using proper safety techniques. Receives and weighs incoming clean linen deliveries and weighs outgoing soiled linen. Assists unloading linen deliveries and transports linen carts to the appropriate area. Wears appropriate safety clothing and/or safety equipment when in contact with soiled linen, in accordance with established policy and procedures. Folds linen on a daily basis. Builds delivery carts on a daily basis for wards, clinics, and satellite facilities. Makes routine linen deliveries throughout the day, making sure quotas are met. Ensures linen is kept covered at all times during deliveries. Operates commercial or industrial housekeeping equipment. Cleans and maintains linen room, linen storage areas, and equipment. Issues uniforms for incoming employees, and receives uniforms for outgoing employees. Receives incoming supplies and processes them into inventory or storage. Operates hand trucks and pallet jacks in accordance with established policy and procedures. Utilizes a variety of computer programs (word processing, spreadsheets) to complete tasks and process reports. Responsible for record keeping. Meets the needs of customers on a daily basis while supporting VA missions. Work Schedule: Varying Shifts - Will be discussed at time of interview. Position Description Title/PD#: Laundry Worker/PD00115A Physical Requirements: Incumbent is required to frequently maneuver heavy carts, stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, and stand/walk continuously on cement surfaces. Some heavy lifting may be required of up to 25 - 30 pounds.
