This position is part of the St Stephen's Indian School, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Education Technician (Special Education) you will be responsible for supporting classroom teacher in a BIE school on or near the Reservation. The instruction area is in support of the Special Education program.
Duties
As a Education Technician (Special Education) CY-1702-2, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Monitoring students during various phases of school day
Provides assistance in toileting, feeding, eating and personal hygiene
Supports educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and general education classroom as needed.
Performs administrative tasks such as attendance records, filing, scheduling, and reviewing assignments.
Works with students in accordance with plans developed by the specialist and educator.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation for Public Trust position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a background clearance.
- Must obtain and Maintain valid state driver's license.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements contained in the approved job category for P.L. 95-561 described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Education and Experience Requirement:
A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in education or a related field. (Official Transcripts must be submitted with applicant packet)
Completion of sixty (60) semester hours in education or a related field with one (1) year of related experience. (Official Transcripts must be submitted with applicant packet)
An Associate's Degree in education or a related field with one (1) year of related experience. (Official Transcripts must be submitted with applicant packet)
Related Experience: Is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. If you are using an Associate's Degree or the sixty (60) semester hours to qualify, your year of experience must be related to Special Education or working with individuals that have special needs.
