About the Position:
This is a permanent, seasonal position. Seasonal employment means annually recurring periods of work that typically last six months each year but may vary depending upon the needs of management.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible for supporting operation plans on mobilization, contingencies, and exercises at Fort Drum. Specifically, the incumbent will:
Maintain the Mountain Operations Center (MOC). Coordinate all MOC daily activities such as severe weather information, mobilization, contingencies, exercises, etc.
Prioritize critical resources for the installation in support of operations, ceremonies or mobilizations.
Provide written input for various reports to staff regarding operations.
Review draft installation plans, orders and taskings prepared by other installation activities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This is a seasonal position. Seasonal employment means annually recurring periods of work that typically last six months each year but may vary depending upon the needs of management.
- Seasonal positions are permanent. Employees are placed in a non-duty, non-pay status in the off-season and recalled to duty the following work season. Seasonal employees are eligible to receive the same benefits offered to full-time employees.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: 1) Preparing, editing, and reviewing documents/correspondence using office administrative practices and procedures; 2) Using automated software, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Power Point, to prepare reports, spreadsheets, memorandums and/or correspondence; and 3) Operating various office equipment, such as fax machines, scanners, copiers, and phone systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
