Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Los Angeles Field Office, located in Long Beach, CA.

Duties

The work carried out by this position engages in developing sources of information for intelligence collection used for projecting data and/or estimates of future situations, developing trends and patterns, and producing studies and tactical data. This position starts at a salary of $95,905.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $148,255.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $148,255 (GS-13 Step 10). In this position you will serve as an expert in the planning, evaluating, discussing and testing of intelligence information. Your duties will include: Applying a full range of analytical knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide finished intelligence and intelligence products in support of operations Ensuring that all intelligence analysis processes and products align with all relevant legal authorities, policies and guidelines Contributing to short and long term planning through in-depth research and analysis regarding threats to border security Devising new concepts, guides, and methodologies to solve analytical problems

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Applying established intelligence practices to specific problems which involve many variables Documenting incident and investigative reports and evaluating incoming intelligence information Assessing threats and creating lookouts and developing and disseminating tactical information and intelligence Performing intelligence liaison functions with other organizations, including effectively presenting the organization's needs and establishing harmonious working relations with counterparts Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Reviewing intelligence information from a variety of sources using creative methodologies to develop trends/patterns/profiles/estimates/studies, and tactical interdiction information as well as to solve unusual problems Developing intelligence collection plans, including the most complex/difficult assignments Collecting intelligence to support specific long range planning/programs/activities Selecting the proper methods of dissemination for intelligence products Researching and analyzing information to develop and publish intelligence products NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/29/2023.
