The Jonathan M Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center, the Office of Integrated Veterans Care is looking for a Lead Medical Support Assistant on site in Walla Walla, Washington.
Duties
Office of Integrated Veteran Care at the VAWW. Lead MSA's plan and direct the administrative process for care in a variety of areas within OCC. These areas include but are not limited to non-VA Emergency Care Review, separate functional areas under Care Coordination and Customer Service. While all sections differ slightly, all Lead MSA's fulfill several of the same functions, below, and may work in any of the aforementioned areas as required by need. Incumbent is a member of a team of employees working to serve the veteran population to provide healthcare at non?VA facilities. Incumbent directly reports to the Supervisory MSA.
The Lead MSA plans and directs programs in the IVC service line and has full programmatic responsibility. The Lead MSA can complete assignments at the MSA GS-05 and MSA GS-06 level. Assignments at the Lead MSA GS-7 level include, but are not limited to assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility, conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work, ensuring accurate and timely upload and recovery of records, providing guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures, distributing and balancing workload, creating and maintaining employee work schedules and rotation of duties, dependent upon priorities set by management. The Lead MSA also is responsible for identifying educational and training needs, orienting and providing on the job training for new and current employees, ensuring all training requirements are met, organizing the work structure of his/her assigned areas, acting as a liaison between MSA's and management when appropriate.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Must be fluent in English
Specialized Experience must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level (1) collaborating with medical clinicians across multiple disciplines, scheduling interdisciplinary appointments, and possessing an advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community. **Resume must include hours per week for work experience credit.**
Candidates must demonstrate the KSAs below:
1. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources.
2. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient care systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting.
3. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines.
4. Skill in communicating with individuals to obtain the desires effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff.
5. Ability to provide staff development and training.
6. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage workflow priorities, and adjust the flow of work to meet team and patient needs. This includes the ability to follow-up on pending issues and demonstrate an understanding of the impact if incomplete work across multiple clinics.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary but may require periods of standing or walking however, there are no physical requirements for the 0679 Medical support Assistant occupation.
Education
Education is not used as a substitute for experience at the GS 7 level.
