The incumbent serves as a Maintenance Mechanic working from the Central Energy Plant to provide first response to trouble calls during evening and midnight shifts as well as full weekend and holiday coverage at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, Tampa, Florida.
Duties
Major Duties Include:
Respond to and resolve emergency situations resulting from, but not limited to, equipment failure, fires, weather, chemical spills, malfunctions, etc.
Assess and troubleshoot equipment and utility systems to include: AC, steam and hot water, electrical, water distribution, plumbing
Performs assigned work within the Central Energy Plant and areas through out the hospital campus as assigned by the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor
Locate causes of malfunctions, determine the repairs necessary and select proper replacement parts on a wide variety of utility systems/equipment
Records time and material used on work orders
Set up, adjust, and adapt each or a combination of each hand and power tool to accomplish a variety of difficult tasks associated with various trades
Work Schedule: 0700-1500, 1500-2300, 2300-0700 Monday thru Friday, 0700-1900 Thursday thru Sunday or 1900-0700 Thursday thru Sunday

Physical Requirements: Incumbent must have the ability to climb over, under, in and around various obstructions found in a modern medical facility such as pipes, hangers, equipment, ductwork, conduits and cables. Incumbent must be able to work in cramped positions and enclosed areas. Incumbent must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds as well as push and pull loads, climb ladders to thirty (30) feet and endure prolonged periods of walking, crouching, sitting and standing.
