This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC), Asset Logistics Division (ALD), Logistics Supply Support Branch, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Duties

This role leads a group of Material Handlers in the performance of warehousing duties such as receiving, checking, identifying, counting, storing, issuing and packaging a wide variety of material.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:- Serving as work leader - communicating to the team the assignment and deadlines and time frames for completion.- Identifying, distributing, and balancing workload among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level, and/or occupational specialization.- Monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work.- Preparing reports and maintaining records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required.- Organizing incoming shipments for maximum space utilization, safety considerations and damage protection.- Developing space management plans and coordination schedules.- Serving as senior member on a team of material handlers involved in special projects to maintain material accountability.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:- Ability to Lead or Supervise - Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean and in order)- Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)- Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints)- Knowledge of Materials- Dexterity and SafetyNational Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
