This position is located in Golf at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department of Naval Station San Diego. The primary purpose of this position is to sell golf equipment and supplies and collect Green and Golf Cart fees from patrons.

Requirements

• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
• Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, without a fixed schedule. Administrative work is performed in a normal office setting.
• Irregular working hours may be required to include early shift, late shift, evenings, weekends and holidays when the need arises.
• May have to obtain and maintain the following certification within 90 days of hire: Emergency First Responder or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Food Handlers and/or C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively).
• Wearing of protective clothing and equipment may be required as situations warrant.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Two (2) years experience in Golf operations preferred. Knowledge of rules and regulations of golf preferred. Knowledge of ladies and men's apparel. Knowledge and ability of proper display techniques. Ability to maintain reports and records. Cash handling experience. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to deal effectively with others. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS Operates independently with supervisory assistance available when unusual situations arise. Work is reviewed periodically to insure assignments are completed accurately and in accordance with safety regulations. COMPLEXITY Work consists of assignments to include, but not limited to, answering patrons questions, collecting payments, and assisting patrons. Incumbents must exercise judgment in dealing effectively with patrons and in applying appropriate guidelines and policies. SCOPE AND EFFECT This position supports the daily activities of the Golf Pro Shop. The position impacts the perception, efficiency and effectiveness of the related programs. PERSONAL CONTACTS Contacts are with coworkers throughout the organization and patrons. PURPOSE OF CONTACTS Personal contacts involve the exchange of information. Contacts require interpersonal skills in influencing the delivery of programs and services. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work requires walking, carrying, lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds, standing, stooping and bending. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed within the Golf Pro Shop.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
