This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD. About the Position: The position is located at United States Army Dugway Proving Ground, approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, Utah, and 90 minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. Dugway offers affordable on post housing as well as subsidized commuter van transport.

Duties

Serves as a supervisor in the calibration and repair of a wide range of precision measument equipment. Studies and analyzes work operations and makes changes in workflow, methods, priorities, ect. Directs and reviews the work of subordinates. Makes assignmimts, furnishes technical advice and assistance in the claibration of presision measurement equipment. Advises customers relative to repair and calibration of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment. Prepares test and certification reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections, and uncertainties, over a specified range of circumstances for instruments being calibrated. Implements, adapts, modifies and periodically develops technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator Supervisor without more than normal supervision: Overseeing troubleshooting procedures and practices to repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Overseeing the use of and skill in using calibration standards and automated workstations to calibrate test instruments such as multi-meters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
